Description
Los Angeles has a great music scene with excellence in every genre, from classical to jazz
and everything in between. Many of the world's great jazz artists call this city home, and
there are ample opportunities to hear them play in some outstanding night clubs. I have
modeled this album after a particular type of club which features both a restaurant with
traditional light
Jazz, usually a piano trio, as well as a hot jazz "showroom" which often features horn bands.
I offer a special thanks to the great job done by my friends, Michael Dabach on trumpet and Bob Hackett on alto sax, tenor sax, and flute. Also special thanks to Ray Harris and Joel Strote, my biggest fans and supporters for their constant encouragement and "flexible deadlines". Please, sit back, close your eyes, and enjoy your evening at the L.A. Jazz Club!
Michael Preddy was the longtime conductor and pianist to The Smothers Brothers. He and composer Jack Elliot were nominated for an Emmy in 1989 for their work on The New
Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
